Getting to Giglio
Porto S. Stefano
In Car
Coming from the north, take the motorway via Genova/Pisa or Firenze/Siena in the direction of Grosseto and then the Aurelia highway to Albinia. After the exit, follow the signs for Porto S. Stefano (Monte Argentario) for about 12 km.
From the south or Rome, take the A12 motorway to Tarquinia and then follow the Aurelia highway towards Grosseto to Orbetello. From there, cross the beautiful lagoon to Porto S. Stefano (Monte Argentario) for about 12 km.
In Train
Giglio is also very easy to reach by train: on the Genoa – Pisa – Grosseto – Rome railway line, you have to get off at the Orbetello-Monte Argentario station.
Buses to Porto S. Stefano leave directly from the railway station. The first bus stop in the port town is right next to the ferry pier.
From the station you can alternatively also take a taxi or NCC (€ 35-40), but better to book in advance, contact us for numbers.
In Plane
The closest airports to Giglio Island are those of Pisa and Rome, about 160 km from Porto S. Stefano. In Rome in turn there are two airports, Ciampino and Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci), the latter better connected by motorway and local train. Transfer by NCC taxi costs about €300.
Ferries
Embarkations
The ferry pier at Porto S. Stefano is located just at the beginning of the village.
There are two ferry companies to the island of Giglio, Maregiglio and Toremar, which offer between 4 and 10 crossings per day that take about 1 hour.
If travelling by car, we recommend booking the ferry well in advance. Alternatively, you can leave it in one of the guarded car parks in Porto S. Stefano.
Crossing
The holiday begins with the crossing, during which you can enjoy the wonderful views of the Tuscan archipelago, and if you are very lucky, you may spot dolphins.
Once you arrive at Giglio Porto, Francesco is waiting to take you to Villa le Rocce.

Self-certification
To bring your car or motorbike (with Italian number plates) to Isola del Giglio during the month of August, it is compulsory to stay for at least 5 days and fill in a self-certification form, which must be shown when disembarking and kept inside the vehicle for the entire period of your stay.
Sports Cars
It is highly inadvisable to come to Giglio with very low cars.
